About Us
Manufacturers who need a world-class machining, plating and anodizing partner for safety-critical parts rely on Greystone. Since our founding in 1932, Greystone has evolved from an industrial plating company to a major, full-service machining and finishing provider with global reach.
While we serve many industries – including aerospace, defense, hydraulics, medical, and semiconductors – Greystone offers special expertise in machining and plating automotive parts used in traditional gas vehicles and electric vehicles (EVs). In fact, Greystone machines and plates over 130 million automotive parts per year in North America, meaning your car has 5 to 9 parts machined or plated by Greystone.
Why “Safety Critical” Parts
Retaining a sustainable competitive advantage in the U.S. manufacturing environment requires a high level of “value add” services. That is why Greystone specializes in machining, plating and anodizing parts that require 100% automated inspection. We developed this core competency cost-effectively through our best-in-class automation engineering department and in-house tooling capabilities. Safety-critical parts fit well into the IAFT and ISO quality certifications held by each Greystone manufacturing plant servicing the respective markets. We also have a NADCAP aerospace certification for our Rhode Island plating plant (Induplate).
Worldwide Manufacturing Footprint
Greystone operates plants in the U.S., Europe and Asia. Across our facilities, our teams of experienced chemical, mechanical and industrial engineers develop and perfect processes that best serve the needs of our global clientele.
Our oldest plant, Induplate, was founded in North Providence, Rhode Island in 1932. Today, it is a world-class precision-plating facility that specializes in wear- and corrosion-resistant coatings for high-volume applications. Our second Rhode Island-based plant, Greystone of Lincoln, is a 75,000 square foot machining facility that’s just a few miles from Induplate. Our third U.S. facility is located in Toano, Virginia and provides high-volume plating and anodizing services for parts with tight tolerances. Each plant is located near major highways and ports to ensure efficient service.
To service customers worldwide, we also have high-volume, precision-plating facilities in Zhenjiang, China (outside Shanghai) and Stalowa Wola, Poland.

Machining
Manufacturers who seek a world-class supply base that can deliver high-volume, precision-turned parts with 4 PPM and best-in-region pricing rely on Greystone.
Our nine decades of manufacturing experience, combined with our skilled workforce and robust quality system, allow us to provide superior service at low cost. No other North American provider can meet the machining needs of the automotive, industrial and defense industries (among others) as cost-effectively as Greystone.
Machining and a wide variety of secondary operations (see below) are performed in our IATF 16949 certified, Rhode Island facility housing over 100 Hydromat rotary transfer, multi-spindle, single-spindle and grinding machines.
Plating
Those who need electroplating excellence rely on Greystone for superior adhesion and uniform coverage with fast turn times.
Greystone of Virginia is a world-class, automotive TS 16949-certified, high-volume plating facility that provides precision hard chrome plating and hardcoat type II and type III anodizing services. Serving the automotive, firearm and industrial markets, this facility has grown rapidly by focusing on high-volume products (1 to 10 million pieces per year), tight tolerances, and special market needs. The Greystone product development and operations team includes world-class engineers who design custom tooling and processes to achieve high-precision plating within a few microns. To ensure defect-free parts, Greystone uses 100% thickness-checking equipment that is designed and constructed internally by our equipment design and fabrication engineers.
Greystone’s Rhode Island plating division, Induplate, is a precision plating company that started as a hard chrome plater. Induplate’s expertise lies in wear and corrosion-resistant coatings for high-volume applications. Induplate’s team has extensive experience developing custom processes to support specific market and product needs.
Anodizing
For the highest degree of wear and corrosion protection for aluminum parts, with even color and thickness distribution, manufacturers rely on Greystone.
Greystone specializes in providing precision, high-volume type II and type III aluminum hardcoat anodizing services at our facilities in Rhode Island and Virginia.
Greystone anodizing services cater to a diverse range of aluminum alloys, including castings and extrusions for automotive (including EVs), defense, outdoor recreation and other commercial/industrial manufacturers. Greystone anodizing is customized to your parts in whatever timeframe you need with fast turn times and expediting options. Greystone also provides many secondary anodizing operations such as blasting, laser engraving, dry film lube (DFL), white paint and baking.
